New Cyber Scam Using Kalabarg and Subsidy Bait: Beware of Mirage-Like Text Messages

Isfahan – The Head of Isfahan FATA Police, pointing to a new tactic of cybercriminals sending fake subsidy and Kalabarg text messages, said: Under no circumstances should unknown links be clicked, and only the official sender ID 'YARANEH-IRI' should be relied upon.

Colonel Nematullah Taherpour, in a conversation with Mehr reporter, explained the new methods and tricks of cyber fraudsters under the guise of support and livelihood services and stated: Cyberspace profiteers with all their intelligence and by abusing people's economic needs and concerns in areas such as goods receipts, subsidies and government support schemes, send mass text messages with tempting titles such as "registering electronic goods receipts", "receipt of livelihood subsidies" "New" and "Immediate completion of household information" to carry out their sinister plan to steal bank information and empty the victim's account by directing the audience to fake portals and links.

By distinguishing genuine text messages from criminal actions, he added: official and text message notifications related to self-declaration or follow-up of Kalaberg affairs, according to previous announcements, are made solely and exclusively through the valid and official number of YARANEH-IRI; Therefore, receiving any text messages with similar titles but from personal, miscellaneous or anonymous numbers that encourage the user to click on the link with false promises of registration, credit or subsidy increase, is a serious alarm and should be monitored with the highest level of vigilance.

Emphasizing the necessity of double vigilance against the psychological tricks of fraudsters, the head of FATA police in Isfahan province stated: seeing familiar and deceptive words such as "product" or "subsidy" at the beginning of the SMS text does not in any way guarantee its authenticity; Because the designers of these crimes, with social engineering and the use of popular keywords, try to neutralize the mental defense of the audience and trap them by creating excitement and forcing citizens to take hasty and thoughtless actions.

Col. Taherpour continued the preventive recommendations of FATA police and reminded: Citizens should check the number of the SMS sender carefully before reacting and refrain from opening any links included in the text of anonymous SMS. In addition, under no circumstances should they provide confidential bank information such as card number, dynamic second password, CVV2, expiration date, SMS verification codes and identity details to unknown persons or enter on unreliable and unreliable websites.

This law enforcement official also warned about the dangers of installing unknown files and programs from the platform of SMS links and added: uploading and installing various applications in this way provides a suitable platform for criminals to gain unauthorized access to mobile phone memory, audience and personal information and creates the ground for large-scale financial abuses; Therefore, the general public should follow up on the status of Kalaberg and other support services only through official portals and channels.

At the end of this conversation, the head of FATA police in Isfahan province noted: If a person for any reason notices that money has been deducted, unauthorized withdrawals from the account, or identity information has been stolen after entering fake links, he should inform the bank in the shortest possible time and follow up on the matter through law enforcement authorities. A moment of pause and thought before clicking is a strong barrier against irreparable cyber damages, and dear citizens can call the FATA Police Cyber Emergency Center at 096380 24 hours a day if they encounter suspicious cases or need expert advice.
