Street Fighter Cast Wants to Make a Mortal Kombat Crossover Movie
I had the chance to chat with the cast of the Street Fighter movie before its theatrical release, and nearly all of them are up for a crossover film with Mortal Kombat.
I had the chance to chat with the cast of Street Fighter ahead of its theatrical release, and almost all of them are game for a Mortal Kombat crossover.
In May 2026, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boone posted about wanting a Street Fighter guest character in a Mortal Kombat game, saying he was a big fan of Capcom's fighting game series.
With Mortal Kombat II hitting theaters earlier this year, I have to ask the cast of Street Fighter if they'd be willing to take on the likes of Shao Kahn to protect Earthrealm alongside Liu Kang and co. - and the consensus was a resounding yes.
In fact, Andrew Schulz joked that he was trying to pull off the collaboration with his viral joke at the 2025 Game Awards, where he famously took a photo of the cast of Mortal Kombat II.
That's what we were trying to do at [The Game Awards]! Schulz told me. "We're trying to set this thing up!"
"That's what we were trying to do," Cody Rhodes added.
Eric Andre interjected, "Tell them I know Nob Saibat, [Ed Boone and John Tobias] names backwards." "... But a crossover? A Flynn Stones/Jetsons crossover? We're in. Let's go."
Andrew Koji, Noah Centinho and Kalina Liang were also enthusiastic about the idea. Koji specifically mentioned Marvel vs Capcom as another possible crossover opportunity... though the odds of this particular collaboration happening seem astronomically low.
"Hell yeah," said Kojibe of the Mortal Kombat idea. I said yes, because I have friends in Mortal Kombat.
"Look, he's got friends that worked on Mortal Kombat, so he's trying to play well there," Centineo joked.
"I love the girl who plays Kitana," Liang said. "I've met Adeline a few times. She's wonderful."
“This is sick,” Koji continued. But then there's Marvel vs. Capcom. We have to use it.
"That's what I want — I want more Street Fighter," Centineo said. "If you give us an opportunity to go back and rebuild these incredible characters, I'm screwed, and I know we're all screwed. So if this is Mortal Kombat, if I kick it in the face, you know?"

Of course, a Mortal Kombat x Street Fighter movie might be a bit of a stretch, given that Mel Jarnson plays the same character in both movies. I asked him about the possibility of such a project on the red carpet at the first Street Fighter movie, and even if it was a bit of a challenge, he was more than willing to do it.
"This is going to be epic!" he said "And you'd bring Nitara to life. Sew her back. She'd be like half blonde, with wings. Half Kami, half Nitara."
For now, it remains to be seen if there's any real potential for a wacky crossover movie with these two fighting game franchises - but if the stars align, it seems like everyone's excited about it. And given both franchises' wealth of guest characters and crossovers over the years, it won't exactly be uncharted territory.
Street Fighter opens in theaters on Friday, October 16, 2026.
