Fars Power Grid Prepares for Autumn Rains and El Niño Impacts

Shiraz – The Deputy for Operations and Dispatching at the Fars Electricity Distribution Company announced the implementation of preventive network maintenance, saying: So far, 380 tree-pruning cases and corrective operations have been carried out to enhance network stability.

According to Ambassador Arjan Mehdi Zare Khofari, he announced the implementation of the plan for preventive maintenance and preparation of the Fars electricity distribution network to deal with the upcoming weather conditions and the possible consequences of the El Nino phenomenon, and referring to the forecast of the Meteorological Organization about the possibility of rains exceeding the normal limit in parts of this province, he said: with the aim of increasing the stability of the network and reducing the vulnerability of electrical installations to weather events, identifying and fixing vulnerable points and preparing equipment is on the agenda.

Zare Khofari considered the management of the foliage of the trees located in the privacy of the power grid as one of the preventive measures and added: pruning and organizing the trees according to the conditions of each region is being done and so far 380 cases of tree pruning have been registered.

Referring to the technical measures to strengthen the province's electricity network, he continued: In order to strengthen the medium pressure lines and reduce possible damages caused by rains and floods, so far 206 cases of foundation correction, 152 cases of flood path deviation and 134 cases of correction of worn foundations have been carried out.

The Deputy of Operation and Dispatching of Fars Power Distribution Company stated that the status of the network is continuously monitored and said: Sensitive and vulnerable points are identified and electrical equipment, lines and facilities are examined to eliminate possible defects, carry out necessary repairs and services and increase the reliability of the network.

He listed the preparation of machinery and operational equipment as one of the other programs of this company and added: the necessary arrangements are being made for quick response to possible incidents and the provision of electricity to subscribers in the shortest possible time.

Emphasizing the readiness of operational forces for crisis management in 27 cities within the scope of activity of Fars Province Electricity Distribution Company, Zare Khofari noted: In case of damage to electricity lines, facilities and equipment, operational groups will take action to restore the network and provide electricity to subscribers by modifying the network or maneuvering the lines and transferring load to alternative routes.

In the end, he asked the citizens to report the issue through the 121 system if they see a power outage or a problem in the network facilities so that necessary measures can be taken to investigate and solve the problem as soon as possible.
