Microsoft unveiled a new controller called Xbox Nano, which is considered the smallest controller made for Xbox. Not only is it much more compact than the standard model, but at $50, it's about $15 cheaper than the standard $65 Xbox Wireless Controller. According to Microsoft, this game controller is designed to be used for travel and transportation, as well as for younger gamers or people with smaller hands to fit easily in a pocket.
With a length of about 12.7 cm and an approximate weight of 99 grams, Xbox Nano is shorter and lighter than even flagship phones such as the iPhone 18 Pro with a length of 15 cm and a weight of 210 grams. In comparison, the standard wireless Xbox controller is more than 15 cm long and weighs around 280 grams without the battery.
Despite its miniature dimensions, the Xbox Nano controller includes all 18 standard input keys of Xbox controllers, and the arrangement of keys and triggers is exactly the same as the original model. Of course, the joysticks of this controller do not use anti-drift sensors such as Hall Effect or TMR. In addition to the main keys, Microsoft has also placed a programmable action key on the body, which can be customized for shortcuts such as taking a screenshot or recording a video of the gameplay.
Unlike the standard controller that requires pen batteries, the Xbox Nano is equipped with an internal rechargeable battery. This product charges exclusively through the USB-C port and is not compatible with the charging docks of previous Xbox controllers. In terms of connectivity, this controller supports official Xbox Wireless technology for connecting to consoles, as well as Bluetooth for connecting to PCs, Android devices, iOS, and smart TVs; A feature that eliminates the need for various peripheral adapters for portable use.
The pre-sale of the Xbox Nano controller with a price tag of $49.99 has started on the Xbox website in the US, and it will be available in other markets, including the UK, Canada and Australia, starting in November. Microsoft has also prepared special advertising programs; Buyers of select Samsung TVs this holiday season, as well as buyers of the MetaQuest VR headset, will receive this controller along with two months of Game Pass Ultimate for free.
