Watch| Alireza Motamedi: Recognizing the Other Is the Most Important Feature of Iranian Ethics

Alireza Motamedi, playwright and director of “Sons of Fereydoun,” says: “I believe the only way to save us from the evils surrounding us from within and without, and that are rotting us, is a return to Iranian ethics, one of the most distinctive characteristics of Iranian culture. Among its most prominent aspects are tolerance, accepting the other with all their differences, and tolerating those differences.”

Alireza Motamedi, the playwright and director of "Sons of Fereydoun", says: "I think the only way to save us from the evils that surround us from inside and outside and are rotting us is to return to Iranian ethics, as one of the most obvious characteristics of Iranian culture; An ethic whose most prominent features include tolerance, acceptance of others with all their differences, and tolerance with these differences.

According to Ambassador Arjan Alireza Motamedi, the playwright and director of "Sons of Fereydoun" says: "Shahnameh is not only a book of epics and battles; More importantly, the moral aspect of the work is that it constantly warns: be careful, demons can destroy the world, and it is people who awaken the demons and let them into their world. So, I can say that the dialogues of Arnawaz and Shahrnaz for me are like my own dialogue with the world around me and, among other things, show my terrors, fears and nightmares.

He continues: "In the first entry of Shahrnaz and Arnawaz on the stage of the show "Sons of Fereydoun", Arnawaz says to the audience: "This is our nightmare every night that you are watching." The story is the narration of the sedition that filled the world; The story of greed, jealousy, malice, wanting everything for yourself, not recognizing others, fratricide, etc. All these are demons that many heroes have fought with and tried to drive them out of the human world throughout the history of our classical literature; Although humans have always brought them back to their world.

Motamedi states: "The main importance of "Shahnameh" for me, above all, is to convey the moral message hidden in it. The wisdom of our ancestors has flowed into the soul of our culture through literature. In this sense, Ferdowsi is one of the sages who brought and repeated the moral and mystical lessons and life lessons of the past to remind the future generations. Accordingly, I think the only way to save us from the evils that surround us from inside and outside and are rotting us is to return to Iranian ethics, as one of the most obvious characteristics of Iranian culture; An ethic whose most prominent features include tolerance, acceptance of others with all their differences, and tolerance with these differences.
