'Peter' Was One of the Toughest Roles of My Career; The Appeal of Football Alongside the Series

Pouya Amini, the actress of the "Defensive Wall" series, which is aired on Se-Sima channel on odd days, told Mehr reporter, referring to her role in this series: "In this series, I play the role of Peter, one of the Englishmen who works in the refinery." This character is not Farsi-speaking and is an athlete. For me at this point, it was important to experience a new challenge and this role was a good opportunity to play in a different atmosphere from my previous experiences.

Amini said about the attractiveness of the role of Peter: Playing this role is one of the most difficult experiences I have had in my professional history. Peter's character speaks almost entirely in English, which made it even more difficult. At one time, he is an Iranian actor who speaks in English, and at another time, he must speak as an English character, with the appropriate tone and expression of the same character. These two are completely different from each other. To reach this part of the role, we had many rehearsals and it was necessary to revise and repeat the sequences many times. Sometimes some dialects and the way of saying the sentences were not what it should be and we had to film them again. Therefore, language was one of the main challenges of this role for me and a lot of time was spent on it.

He continued: In addition to this issue, the filming conditions were also difficult. Part of the work coincided with the start of the war, and the heat of the south had its own special conditions. When you are going to work in such weather and outdoors, naturally there is more pressure on the group and you have to maintain your focus on the role and the performance of the scene despite all these conditions.

Playing on the football field in the southern heat was not easy

Amini said about the difference between "Defensive Wall" and other works of his career: The atmosphere of this series, the work model and the characters present in it were different from many of my previous works. We were involved in this project from the fall of last year to the summer of this year and during this time we faced different conditions. One of the most difficult parts of the job was the football scenes. In the hot weather, we had to play football on the field, and the field conditions were not always ideal, which made the work more difficult. In such scenes, in addition to paying attention to my own character, I also had to pay more attention to other colleagues who were present on the scene.

The actor continued: Sometimes the excitement of the football game was so high that the friends were really in the atmosphere of the match and forgot for a moment that we were filming. It was natural because some of the actors were interested in football and the atmosphere of the match influenced them. As a result, maintaining the framework of the game while adapting to the conditions of the scene was a separate challenge in itself.

Referring to his personal interest in football, he said: "For me, the role of football in this story had a double attraction." I have been following football since childhood. Although I was less able to play at times, but from time to time, my activity and connection with the field of sports increased. When this project was proposed to me and my friends said that they need someone for this role who has good football knowledge and can help the group in this area, this matter became attractive to me.

The actor continued: In the end, considering the production time, existing facilities, geographical location, and the special conditions of the region, making such a work and reconstructing a situation from a few decades ago was not an easy task. I think the band tried a lot to get close to the atmosphere of that period.

"Defensive Wall" narrates history for today's audience

Amini mentioned about the historical atmosphere of "Defensive Wall" series: the form of narration of this series is such that it depicts a historical period and event in the form of a story. The presence of a large number of professional actors who have experience working in this field has helped the narrative to take a proper shape. Many of today's audience may not know what happened to the people in that historical period and what the social conditions were like in that period. The producer's and director's point of view is such that this story can be accepted and followed by today's audience. One of the positive feedbacks from the audience is that they say that my style of acting and acting is different from the works they have seen from me before.
