In the World Standards Day ceremony, the head of the National Standards Organization announced the increase of mandatory car standards from 85 to 122 items and announced that the implementation of the new requirements will begin next year.

Farzaneh Ansari, head of Iran's National Standards Organization, announced the revision of the standards of the automobile industry and the increase of the number of mandatory standards in this field from 85 to 122, in the celebration of the World Standards Day held on October 21, 1405 in the meeting hall. According to Ansari, the National Organization of Standards, in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade, has developed a schedule for the implementation of the new requirements. According to this program, car manufacturers must upgrade their production lines in order to meet the new standards.

The head of the National Standard Organization emphasized that the safety of the people is the red line of this organization, and stated that car manufacturers cannot refuse to implement the approved standards under the pretext of sanctions or war conditions. He also explained that the implementation of 122 standards has been postponed to next year due to war conditions and taking into account the opinions of car manufacturers so that production units have enough time to adapt their production lines to the new requirements.

In another part of his statement, Ansari discussed the cost of tests and quality assessment tests. According to him, the increase in the exchange rate and its effect on the price of the raw materials needed by the laboratories has made it necessary to review and revise the tariffs for the tests. Accepting the high cost of these tests, the head of the National Standard Organization announced that the issue will be re-examined. Due to the increase in the number of mandatory car standards, the cost of tests related to product conformity verification will also be a significant issue for car manufacturers; However, the details of the costs related to the implementation of the new standards have not been announced.

The head of the National Standards Organization also explained about the implementation of the resolution of the Supreme Council of Standards to create a secure payment gateway between manufacturers and quality assessment centers that this resolution is facing legal and executive problems and cannot be implemented. According to Ansari's explanations, the production units were supposed to deposit the cost of tests and exams into a safe account and the National Standards Organization was supposed to transfer the amounts to the account of the test centers. He announced that the implementation of this mechanism is not legally possible and the issue should be brought up again in the Supreme Council of Standards to decide on the cancellation of the resolution.

Sheena Ansari, head of the Environmental Protection Organization, also emphasized the necessity of reforming the energy consumption pattern, reducing pollution and increasing productivity. He considered the standards to be a tool to transform the macro goals of development into measurable criteria and to strengthen the relationship between policy making and implementation. Referring to the challenges of water and soil resources, air pollution and environmental destruction, the head of the Environmental Protection Organization said that these issues, in addition to specialized dimensions, affect public health, food security, employment and quality of life of people. According to him, maintaining production capacity and responding to the needs of the society should be pursued at the same time as reducing the pressure on natural resources.

Sheena Ansari also emphasized that environmental protection is not in opposition to production, but can be the basis for moving towards more competitive and responsible production. In the automotive industry, reducing emissions and energy consumption, along with safety requirements, are among the issues related to the development of standards. However, in the information announced from the ceremony, the details of the breakdown of the new car standards based on areas such as safety, emissions and fuel consumption are not specified. The increase of mandatory car standards from 85 to 122 items was the most important car news of this event for the people of the car industry and market. The implementation of the new program from next year requires car manufacturers to adapt their production lines to the approved requirements; A process whose implementation details and how to monitor it are not described in the published information.
