Zakani: We Have No Dead End in Getting Through Wartime Conditions

Tehran Mayor, stressing the need to boost the country's economic resilience, said the government has several capacities at its disposal to secure the resources it needs under current conditions. By making the right decisions, transferring operations to the public, and using domestic capacities, these can be leveraged to overcome problems.

Emphasizing the necessity of increasing the country's economic resilience, the mayor of Tehran said: "The government has many capacities in order to provide the resources it needs in the current situation, which can be used to overcome problems by making the right decisions, handing over responsibilities to the people, and using internal capacities."

According to Ambassador Arjan, Alireza Zakani, the mayor of Tehran, in the gathering of student mobilization organization in Hosseiniyeh Irshad, Tehran, referring to the conditions of the country and the necessity of maintaining readiness and standing against the pressures of the enemy, stated: We are at an important moment in history and each of us has a responsibility in the front of the right. If we look at the issues with a civilizational perspective and with an understanding of our historical responsibility, many hardships and developments today will be understandable.

He stated that the way of looking at developments is effective in analyzing situations and making decisions, and added: If our narrative of events is purely material, we may consider today's difficult conditions as a sign of weakness. But with God's eyes, even at the height of difficulties, new paths can be found to progress and overcome problems.

Referring to the conflict between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the domination system, Zakani clarified: The Iranian nation has shown at critical moments in history that it is present in the field with insight and awareness, and today, the country has significant capacities to stand up and resist.

The economic capacities of the country to overcome difficult conditions

Emphasizing the importance of the country's economic resilience, the mayor of Tehran said: the main issue is whether the country is able to provide the resources it needs in the current situation. In my opinion, despite the difficulties caused by war conditions and income restrictions, the country is not facing a dead end in managing its affairs and providing the resources it needs.

Referring to the government's sources of income, including taxes and oil, he said: According to statistics, the performance of tax revenues in the first half of the year has reached the expected quota, and in the oil sector, factors such as the price increase and the sale of part of our existing oil resources at sea have been effective in providing the government's resources. However, new economic capacities should be used for the coming months.

Referring to the necessity of handing over state-owned companies to the people, Zakani added: one of the important capacities is handing over the shares of companies whose ownership is in the hands of the government. If the government has a serious will in this field and hands over part of its assets to the people, it can provide significant resources for the administration of the country and at the same time fulfill its duty in reducing economic exploitation.

Recalling the views of the Martyr of the Revolution about the necessity of reducing the government's burden and handing over affairs to the people, he said: The Martyr of the Revolution believed that the limit of the government's involvement in issues is to the point where the people do not have the possibility to enter into those issues and solve them, so the government should provide the people's presence in the economy instead of extensive management. Today's difficult situation can be an opportunity for the government to pave the way for more people's participation in economic activities by revising its role.

Generating assets and using foreign exchange capacities

Referring to the capacities of the central bank and government assets, the mayor of Tehran said: asset generation, transfer of shares of state-owned companies, and targeted use of foreign exchange and gold resources are among the solutions that can play a role in providing the resources needed by the country.

Emphasizing that the use of these capacities requires effective decision-making and implementation, he noted: the problem is not only identifying resources; Rather, there must be the will to use them. The economic capacities of the country are significant, and with the right decisions, the existing pressures can be overcome.

Zakani also pointed to the necessity of directing people's capital towards productive economic activities and stated: the financial resources and assets available to the people can help strengthen production, economic development and increase the country's resilience if the right platform is provided. The economy should be managed in such a way that the people are the main field of economic activities and the government is placed in the position of policy making and supervision.

Referring to the role of public transportation in reducing the cost of living of citizens, he added: Strengthening and developing public transportation can reduce the cost of commuting and also help reduce traffic, air pollution, and fuel consumption.

Referring to the support programs in the field of providing basic goods, the mayor of Tehran said: In this context, plans have been planned to supply items needed by households at reasonable prices, including the implementation of the "Zero Inflation" plan for 12 items of basic goods so that citizens can provide part of their daily needs at a lower cost.

Stating that some of these measures are aimed at directly supporting people's livelihood, he added: reducing household expenses and providing proper access to essential goods are among the axes that have been taken into consideration in the municipal plans.

Programs for employment, health, energy and education

Zakani further announced the follow-up of programs in the field of employment and economic empowerment and said: Creating production chains and providing necessary infrastructure for economic activities are among the measures that are followed with the aim of increasing people's empowerment.

Referring to programs related to family and childbearing, he said: In this field, measures are being pursued to support families and provide them with the opportunity to benefit from economic capacities.

The mayor of Tehran also mentioned the field of energy and added: consumption management and optimal use of existing capacities in sectors such as electricity, gas and fuel can be effective in reducing costs and improving economic conditions. In this context, cooperation between responsible institutions and city management is very important.

He listed the development of educational infrastructure and attention to social issues as other axes to be pursued and said: conditions must be provided for families to entrust their children to the education system with more confidence, and besides that, social issues should also be followed with a precise approach that fits the needs of the society.
