Crossing the Constitutional Line: Trump Makes Headlines Again

While the U.S. Constitution bars anyone from being elected to more than two presidential terms, Trump once again said he wants a third term in the White House.

According to ambassador Arjan; US President Donald Trump responded to the slogan "Four more years" in a gathering of supporters of the Republican Party in the state of Ohio on Monday and on the eve of the mid-term congressional elections in November, he said that he wants to run for the third term of the presidency.

Trump's second term ends in January 2029, and the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution, which was adopted in 1951, limits the presidency to two terms.

However, Trump has repeatedly raised the possibility of seeking a third term. Steve Bannon, Trump's former political adviser, also emphasized the need for his re-election last fall.

This request of Trump and his supporters, in addition to contradicting the US Constitution, is at a time when the level of dissatisfaction with his performance among most Americans on the eve of the congressional elections has jeopardized the fate of his party, and it is predicted that the Republicans will lose the majority of at least one house of Congress, in which case Trump's hands will be tied in the remaining two years of his presidency to advance his plans.
