Karim wanted to return to his youth team/ Saudi Arabia did not let Benzema reach his dream
Karim Benzema regretted his days in Saudi Arabia and wanted to return to Lyon. This is the claim of his former program manager.
According to Sport Se, today it was revealed in France that 38-year-old Karim Benzema had long been thinking about his dream return to Lyon Olympics, but contractual obligations prevented this historic transfer from being realized after seventeen years.
In recent weeks, several reports were published about the possibility of Benzema returning to the club of his youth. Although the famous French striker did not end up joining his former team and is currently a free agent without a team, his former program manager Karim Jaziri revealed that returning home was a serious idea in the star's mind.
In an interview with the Riolu Club program, Jaziri said, referring to the behind the scenes of this decision: "This transfer was not possible last summer, because he had a contract with Saudi Arabia. However, Karim has been thinking about returning to Lyon for a long time. This is his city, his team and his heart club. Unlike many players today, Karim has actually only played for two clubs and such a stable path is very rare in contemporary football. "I don't consider the story of Saudi Arabia as part of this path, because honestly, if instead of starting this league and the purchases they made, if they had come and bought the French league, they would have had much more advertising and would have made more profit."
