Parliament Reacts to Annulment of Federation Elections; What Is Happening at the Ministry of Sports?
A member of the Parliamentary Sports Faction's presidium called on the Ministry of Sports to clarify the process of holding federation elections and compliance with legal regulations.
According to the report of Ambassador Arjan and quoted from the public relations of the sports faction of the Islamic Council, Ruhollah Lak Aliabadi, the representative of the people of Darud wa Azna, said about the annulment or creation of legal challenges in the elections of some sports federations: in recent months, we have witnessed the annulment or emergence of legal challenges in the elections of some federations, including horse riding, university sports, bodybuilding, and taekwondo. Some cases face problems and legal challenges after holding elections.
He further added: When the elections of a federation are held, it is expected that all its steps from the beginning to the end are carried out in strict compliance with the laws, regulations and legal requirements, so that after the elections are held, we do not witness annulments or create legal disputes.
The spokesperson of the parliament's sports faction continued: "You should really ask what is going on in the Ministry of Sports?" Why do we witness such events in the elections of several federations in short intervals? This issue creates questions for the sports community and can cause management instability in federations.
Emphasizing that raising this issue does not mean a confrontation with the Ministry of Sports or the Minister of Sports and Youth, Lak Aliabadi said: "The Parliament respects the Minister of Sports and the Ministry and we believe that the country's sports management is in a difficult situation. But the same issue requires that possible problems be raised and resolved frankly and compassionately.
He stated: Sports in the country need management stability to progress. When the result of an election is changed or annulled after a period of time by the judgment of a judicial authority, naturally, the plans of the federation, athletes, coaches and even the preparation of the national teams may also be affected.
The member of the board of the parliament's sports faction noted: Our expectation is that the Ministry of Sports, while fully respecting the judgments of the judicial authorities, will conduct a detailed and pathological review of the process of holding the elections of the federations and determine where the flaws come from. Are the problems in the by-laws, in the implementation process or in the way of legal supervision before holding the elections.
He added: We should not allow legal disputes after the elections to enter the country's sports into a cycle of canceling the re-election and management uncertainty. Preventing these incidents is definitely less expensive than correcting them after a court ruling.
In the end, the representative of the people of Durd and Azna emphasized: the parliament's sports faction will follow up the issue from a regulatory perspective, and our goal is to help the Ministry of Sports to create a transparent, legal and borderless process in the elections of federations. Our criticism and warning is out of sympathy for the sports of the country and we hope to witness more stability and strict observance of the law in the elections of the federations with the cooperation of the Ministry of Sports.
