Brewers take control of the NLCS! 🚨 A-Rod, Big Papi and Derek Jeter analyze the Dodgers' struggles

Alex Rodriguez, David Ortiz and Derek Jeter homered in the Milwaukee Brewers' 7-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 2 of the NLCS.

Yesterday on the diamond was not a good day for me as both of my games were lost in the championship series. I root for the Dodgers and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who is off to his worst playoff start ever. I also backed the Rays and Drew Rasmussen, who was fine until he allowed a few homers, and the Rays bullpen struggled. Tonight we return to the Guardians and Rays series for Game 2.

Cleveland guards aren't known for running much. This team ranked 24th in baseball in two runs scored this year. Much of their success was based on quality execution and production. The team was only 27th in the league in home runs, so it wasn't like they had much of a run putting the ball over the fence. They did a little bit of everything last night. After being held scoreless, they hit solo homers in both the sixth and seventh innings to tie the game. Then in the eighth, they hit a two-run single that gave them the lead and they never looked back. They added three more in the ninth and put the game out of reach.

Tonight they look to go up 2-0 on the Rays and send one of their best pitchers to the mound. Parker Messick takes the mound after a season in which he posted a 12-9 record, 2.56 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. He doesn't get much national media attention playing in Cleveland, but his ERA and WHIP are both top 10. He faced the White Sox twice and allowed two earned runs in both appearances. In all, he allowed four runs in 6.2 innings. Control was a bit of an issue, as he allowed six walks in that span, but he struck out 11 batters. He had two starts against Tampa this season and allowed two earned runs over 13.1 innings of work.

The Tampa Bay Rays lost their first postseason game last night. The Rays could still be in great shape, but the problem is that they had their best starting pitching yesterday and lost a home game. This season, the Rays went 55-26 at home and 43-38 at home, and have now lost their home court advantage. A 2-0 deficit may be a disaster the Rays cannot overcome. They didn't exactly play poorly last night, but the bullpen certainly needs to do better.

The team will also look for a strong start tonight from Freddie Peralta. In the postseason, Peralta has made one start and allowed one earned run with a solo homer over 4.2 innings. He gave up three hits, one walk and struck out three batters. He only threw 66 pitches, so his arm should be fresh. He hasn't thrown 5. Peralta hasn't faced any keepers this season, but over his career, he has allowed 7 hits in 38 at-bats, all of which have been singles.

The Rays won't be eliminated if they lose tonight, but if they do, I can't believe they'll advance. I guess the good news for them is that the Rays won both games as well as Messi has played against the team. Peralta gives them a great chance to win the game. However, I would be surprised to see teams run like they did yesterday. I will defend the under 7 team in tonight's game.
