Zelensky wants Europe to prepare to support Ukraine after 2027

Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine will need an additional 70 billion euros from the EU for military needs in 2027.

Brussels, October 16. /TASS/. Volodymyr Zelenskiy said the EU should prepare for financing Ukraine after 2027 and include these costs in its budget.

In his speech at the European Union summit, he reiterated that Ukraine "helps ensure the security of Europe." "These security guarantees are not yet reflected in your [EU] budget from 2028 onwards. Let's take this issue seriously. Let's examine exactly how Ukraine's defense capabilities should be included in that budget," Zelensky said in a video of his speech posted on his X-page.

In the same speech, he stated that Ukraine needs an additional 70 billion euros from the European Union in 2027 for military needs.

Meanwhile, a European diplomat told reporters on the sidelines of an EU summit that leaders expressed their support for Zelenskiy and pledged to continue funding as part of a 90 billion euro loan. However, they did not provide Kiev with any new aid packages or arms shipments. Meanwhile, since late August, Ukrainian officials have stressed that the loan will not be enough.
