Cologne police spokesman Christoph Bremmel said that no charges have yet been filed against the two youths, but both are suspects. Investigators are investigating whether the robot's movements were pre-planned or controlled remotely.

Cologne police said in a statement on Monday that rescuers who were dispatched to the scene near a fast food restaurant on the evening of the incident found the robot in the trunk of a car.

The police officers confiscated the robot and the mobile phones of the two young men. The North Rhine-Westphalia state police also released a picture of the red and gold-colored robot lying on the ground.
