Is there a way to save the sport we love?
I've said this many times before, but one of my favorite things about college football is the myriad of uniform combinations and unique program concepts.
Even just this past weekend, plenty of teams unveiled some pretty cool uniforms, including the Florida Gators in their '60s and the Utah Utes with their "ice" helmets.
Even some of the most traditional powers the sport has to offer have broken out new uniform combinations to excite their fans.

One program that isn't a traditional power is Coastal Carolina, and the Chanticleers have always marched to the beat of their own drum.

One only has to look at their home pitch, painted in their signature teal color scheme, to see that this is a football team willing to push the boundaries of fashion.
Rutgers unveiled special uniforms in honor of the 37 students killed in the 9/11 attacks.
So it should come as no shock that the Chanticleers are unveiling their '90s throwback jerseys next Friday against conference rival Appalachian State.
And when I say '90s throwbacks, I don't mean the jerseys the team wore 30 years ago. I mean, these uniforms are literally 90s themed.
First of all, whoever designed the Game Boy color with the Coastal Carolina brand needs to get a special shout out.
If you're of a certain age (probably between 29 and 45), these shirts will strike a nostalgic chord with you, harkening back to a time when life was simpler.
The official press release description of the uniforms on the Coastal Carolina Athletics website says it best.
The uniforms are inspired by the colorful, oversized and unmistakable '90s aesthetic seen on iconic TV shows like 'Saved By The Bell', 'Boy Meets World', 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air', 'Friends' and many more.
Now, while I love reminiscing about my youth, some football fans are a little less keen to see their team on the pitch looking like an ad for an after-school cartoon programming block.
If you're a soccer fan and just want your team to show up in their traditional home colors, I get it.

But, on the other hand, let these guys have some fun.
It's also a brilliant marketing ploy by Coastal Carolina, using an indie game on a Friday night on national television.
No matter if App State hangs 70 on the Chanticleers, everyone will be talking about these jerseys.
If Alabama takes to the field with Seinfeld-themed themes this weekend, or Notre Dame announces it will allow players to wear their favorite Pokemon as a patch on their jerseys, you'll be well within your rights to go full "get off my lawn, guys."
For now, I think we can let Coastal Carolina take some artistic liberties with their uniforms.
