It's now easier to use Spotify by talking to Siri on iPhones updated to iOS 27, Spotify said Tuesday. When users ask Siri to play music or other content using the streaming service's apps, they no longer need to specify "on Spotify."
Instead, users can say whatever they want to hear and Spotify will play the content, whether it's a specific song, album, podcast, audiobook, or a broader search, like "play workout music," or request a Spotify feature, like "play my DJ."
Siri voice control can be used to do things like ask for personalized recommendations, resume podcasts, search your library, or even create an AI-powered on-demand playlist.
Spotify says removing the extra voice command makes hands-free listening feel more natural, as users can focus only on what they want to hear, rather than how to phrase the request correctly to get their music app to respond.
This feature works because Siri can now learn your music app preferences. If you use Spotify regularly, it will automatically redirect your audio requests to that app.
The new feature is available globally to users with an iPhone 15 Pro or newer outside of the EU if Apple Intelligence is enabled in Settings.
