Speaking with Alec Baldwin at the Hampton International Film Festival in East Hampton, New York on Sunday, actress Amanda Seyfried revealed that she turned down a TV series because of its frequent sex scenes, explaining that as she got older she became more uncomfortable with intimate scenes.
According to People magazine, Seyfried said, "I was on a show where I had to always have sex for the sake of sex. It doesn't matter [who]... I don't want to do that. I'm upset about it. I'm not into it right now."
"I was offered the lead role in that movie," Gershon said.

Seyfried, 40, said her feelings about portraying romantic relationships on screen have changed significantly since she started her career, when she was more eager to film intimate scenes.
"Maybe if [the project] comes up again [at a later stage], maybe I'd be in a different space. But I don't want to deal with being naked with a stranger," Seyfried said.
The Oscar-nominated actor previously admitted that he was pressured to take part in uncomfortable scenes when he was younger. In a 2022 interview with Porter magazine, Yeksyfried explained that at the age of 19, she was taking part in scenes without underwear because she was afraid of upsetting people and jeopardizing her career.
"Oh, I know why: I was 19 and I didn't want to upset anybody and I wanted to keep my job. That's why," Seyfried said.

Other actresses have described similar experiences. In 2023, Christina Ricci revealed on "The View" that she was once threatened with legal action after refusing to perform an intimate scene a certain way.
"Someone once threatened to sue me because I didn't want to do this sex scene a certain way," Ritchie said.
Keira Knightley has previously revealed that motherhood has changed her willingness to bare in front of the camera. The actress included a no-nudity clause in her contracts, giving her more control over intimate scenes.

“[Intimacy Coordinator] is a relatively new role in 2018 when HBO made a commitment to have an Intimacy Coordinator on all of its movie sets. "An intimacy coordinator is there to provide safety and framework for intimacy scenes. These are simulated sex scenes, simulated genital contact or nudity scenes."
Under SAG-AFTRA guidelines, performers must be notified in advance of expected nudity or simulated sex, and producers generally must provide riders with written nudity at least 48 hours before filming. The union also created a collective agreement in 2025 that covers intimacy coordinators.
Seyfried, who has two children with actor Thomas Sadosky, said motherhood has mostly influenced her willingness to push boundaries, both professionally and personally.
"Now I have kids who pay attention to what I'm doing, so I have to be less withdrawn," Seyfried said.
