Look, this $3,000 keyboard is really a powerful AI PC that I hate spilling coffee on.

Personally, I'll save my money for anything else — anything at all.

As you might already suspect, the ZX Spectrum was a little before my time. However, a full-fledged home computer packed inside a rather stylish keyboard is something of timeless appeal. Enter HP's latest update to the EliteBoard, a modern keyboard-computer that costs a lot more than a ZX Spectrum.

HP's Eliteboard series debuted with the G1a at CES 2026, featuring a Kraken Point APU and integrated Radeon 860M GPU (making it almost as powerful as the Steam Deck).

Now the company has come up with an update in the form of the HP EliteBoard G2a, which is billed as a next-gen AI PC with a Copilot key. This follow-up isolates some serious hardware in its sleek framework for AI-based workloads.

In what I have to admit looks like a typical office keyboard, there's up to 32GB of RAM and an AMD Gorgon Point processor. Pricing starts at $3,028, and the "base" model available in the US has 16GB of RAM and an AMD Ryzen AI 5 Pro 435 processor. You can also just connect it to a monitor that supports a USB-C connection.

Three grand is already a lot for a prebuilt gaming PC, let alone something that looks like it could easily put itself in the path of a catastrophic coffee spill. Even more important, you can't remove the integrated USB4 cable—a model that lets you remove it starts at $3,053.

The most powerful model has a Ryzen AI 7 Pro 450 plus 32 GB of RAM and weighs easily under 700 grams (for comparison, the G1a weighs 780 grams). However, this will set you back an impressive $4,191. As the form factor is 14.1 x 4.7 x 0.7 inches, I think I'll save my pennies for a much larger gaming rig, thank you.
