WhatsApp is testing a feature that allows users to schedule their messages to be sent on a specific date and time. This feature has been seen in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android and allows users to send messages from 10 minutes to two weeks later.
According to WaBetaInfo, the ability to schedule messages has appeared in the beta version 2.26.8.11 of WhatsApp for Android. To access this feature, users need to touch and hold the send message button until a window opens at the bottom of the screen. Then they can specify the date and time of sending the message.
WhatsApp also has a dedicated section for managing scheduled messages so that users can check and manage their messages before they are sent.
Scheduled messages are sent even when the user's device is offline. These messages support text, link, photo and video and like other WhatsApp messages, they have end-to-end encryption. It is also possible to schedule messages in group conversations.
The new feature is currently enabled for a group of WhatsApp beta testers on Android. It is expected that this feature will be available to more users in the coming weeks, and after that, its public version will also be released.
WhatsApp users have been asking for the possibility of scheduling messages for a long time. This feature can be used to set reminders, send messages to audiences in different time zones, and manage business communications outside of office hours.
Since 2019, Telegram has provided users with the possibility of scheduling messages.
