Seahawks vs. Broncos Thursday Night Football Betting Pick: Focus on Under in First Half

The Seattle Seahawks are preparing for a major Thursday Night Football showdown against the Denver Broncos, with Pat Surtain and Jaxon Smith-Njigba injured.

I've finally gotten back on track with football betting over the past few weeks. It's been a really bad start to the season, but I'm slowly getting out of the hole I've been in. Now, I have to try to keep winning for the next 12 weeks of football. That's not to mention trying to do everything for the playoffs either. It's a long road ahead, but it starts tonight when the Seahawks play the Broncos on Thursday Night Football.

The Seattle Seahawks enter this game with a 3-2 record and they are 1-1 on the road this season. The first road game was against Washington and they lost, even though Marcus Mariota was the starting quarterback. The goal isn't meant to be a knock on Mariota, but more of a reflection of how Seattle plays. The Seahawks came home to rebound and beat the Chargers, but last week they had the toughest game on their schedule when they hosted the 49ers. Last season, the Seahawks ended San Francisco's year and eliminated them from the playoffs. This year, the 49ers won with a score of 32-29.

Seattle has been a bit shaky to start the season. Sam Darnold was injured in the first game, but he returned from the injury for the next four games. Unfortunately for the Seahawks, Darnold appears to have regressed a bit. Darnold has 755 yards passing and has thrown seven touchdowns and five interceptions. Six of his seven touchdown passes have come to Jackson Smith-Njigba, as have most of his passing yards. The Broncos usually have corners that can keep Smith-Njigba out of the game. However, Pat Sortin is injured.

The Denver Broncos are also 3-2 on the season, winning both of their home games and going 1-2 on the road. They lost to the Chiefs in the season opener. They then rattled off two straight wins over the Jaguars and Rams. The win against Los Angeles was one of the most impressive this season. The Rams led the Broncos for most of the game until Denver roared back to take the game 30-26. In Week 4, the Broncos traveled to San Francisco and lost 24-14.

Last week, the Broncos beat the Chargers 23-17 in Los Angeles. The Chargers are one of football's biggest disappointments and are now 0-5 to start the year. The Rams could be another big disappointment, falling to 2-3 after last week's loss to the Bills. So the only "good" win for the Broncos came against the Jaguars. Maybe all Denver needs is home. However, in terms of yards allowed, the Seahawks have the best defense in football. If Denver can't get the ground game going, expectations for success tonight are low.

This is a matchup we could have won in the Super Bowl last season, but Bo Nix got hurt and the Broncos couldn't beat the Patriots. The Seahawks won the championship. Seattle still has a strong defense and I think the Broncos can fight the Seahawks passing game. Both teams tend to start slowly. I will back under 20.5 in the first half of this game.
