Bitcoin rises from $81,000 to $84,000 while ZEC and HYPE lead altcoin losses.
Bitcoin crossed the $3000 range in the last 24 hours. It fell to around $81,000 in early Asian trade, then rose above $84,000 and traded near $83,500 early Tuesday.
Altcoins did not recover as hard. ZEC lagged behind, down nearly 8% to around $1,210, and HYPE was down nearly 6% to around $82. SOL and DOGE were down 4 percent each, and XRP was down about 3 percent at $1.36. Ether and BNB fell between 1% and 2%, according to CoinDesk data.
The Crypto Fear and Greed Index, which tracks market sentiment, fell to 57. The index is still in "greed" territory, but it's the lowest since September 18.
Chipmakers' sales continued for another day. Nasdaq 100 futures fell 0.5 percent and shares of the exchange-traded fund tracking chips headed for a sixth straight daily loss as traders questioned whether the pace of AI spending could continue amid safety concerns and signs of financial stress. JPMorgan fell more than 2 percent in early trading after its U.S. earnings season results were released. Europe's Stoxx 600 rose 0.4 percent, helped by lower oil prices and bond yields.
Thursday's US inflation data is the next big test for both markets.
