Soderbergh came to the aid of the director of "Batman 2".

Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh is joining the project to help complete the final stages of filming "Batman 2"; The decision was made after Matt Reeves temporarily withdrew from filming due to a family issue and with the support of DC Studios. Reeves will continue to participate in the production process, and Soderbergh is going to coordinate with him and the production team to advance the final weeks of filming.

According to Ambassador Arjan's report, quoted by Variety, Steven Soderbergh is stepping in to help complete the filming of "Batman 2"; While Matt Reeves, the director of the film, has been away from the filming location for some time due to a family issue.

A studio representative said in a statement: "While Matt Reeves is still dealing with a family matter, Steven Soderbergh, who is an admirer of his work, has reached out to Reeves and, with the full support of DC Studios, will step in to help complete the final weeks of principal photography on 'Batman 2'." Matt and Steven will work closely with the cast and crew to bring Reeves' vision for the film to fruition."

Soderbergh also said in a statement: "I found Matt Reeves' work in 'Batman' stunning; A purposeful, precise and structurally coherent work. "The goal is to work with Matt and his crew to capture shots that seamlessly blend with the previously shot footage so that Matt can finish his film properly."

Reeves explained on social network X that he will still be involved in the film's production process, but will not be on location during the final weeks of principal photography.

Warner Bros. and DC Studios announced in early October that production on "Batman 2" was temporarily halted while Reeves dealt with a "family matter." A representative for the studio said at the time: "Production on 'Batman 2' has been temporarily halted while Matt Reeves focuses on dealing with a family matter." "DC Studios has our full support for Matt, and we look forward to continuing on this path soon."

Oscar-winning director Soderbergh is best known for such films as "Traffic," "Erin Brockovich," "Sex, Lies and Videotape," and "Ocean's Eleven." His recent works include the films "Christophers", "Black Bag", "Presence" and "John Lennon's Last Interview".

The long-awaited sequel to "Batman" has been delayed several times since its introduction at the Cinemacon event in 2022. The film's original release date was announced as October 2, 2026, but Warner Bros. later pushed it to October 1, 2027. In June, the release date was changed again and moved to February 2028.

The first film "Batman" directed by Reeves was released in March 2022. Robert Pattinson once again plays the role of the caped knight in "Batman 2". Scarlett Johansson, Colin Farrell, Sebastian Stan, Andy Serkis and Jeffrey Wright are other actors in this movie.
