Russia will hold an Arria-formula meeting on human rights violations in Ukraine on October 14

This format suggests the participation of all members of the UN Security Council

United Nations, October 14. /TASS/. According to the work program of the Security Council, the United Nations Security Council, at the initiative of Russia, will hold an informal Arria-style meeting on October 14, which will focus on human rights violations in Ukraine.

The meeting will be held under the title "Piercing the blind spots of violations of international humanitarian laws and international human rights laws in the context of the Ukraine crisis".

Arria-formula meetings give interested Council members an opportunity to engage in direct dialogue with high-level representatives of governments and international organizations, as well as non-governmental parties, on issues of concern to them and within the Security Council's purview. The process is named after Ambassador Diego Aria of Venezuela, who initiated the practice in 1992. This format suggests the participation of all members of the Security Council.
