Friday Imam of Torbat Heydarieh: Addressing economic issues should be a priority
Torbat Heydarieh - Friday Imam of Torbat Heydarieh said: Addressing economic issues and reducing the pressure on households should be a priority.
According to Mehr reporter, Hojjat-ul-Islam Seyyed Mohammad Maalami said in his Friday prayer sermons on Friday 24th of Mehr, referring to the increase in the exchange rate and the economic challenges of the country: One of the proposed analyzes regarding the provision of sources for the payment of goods is that the government should supply the currency to the market at the rate of 259 thousand tomans to cover the costs of this project and pay the goods subsidy to the people from the revenue generated from its sale.
He added: If such an approach is on the agenda, its consequences should be investigated, because providing current expenses from the place of sale of foreign currency, if accompanied by an increase in liquidity and lack of sufficient support, can have inflationary effects.
Imam Juma Torbat Haidarieh stated that there is another analysis about the management of the country's foreign exchange reserves, and said: despite the sale of oil and the entry of foreign currency into the country, there is a concern that some currents of thought, relying on economic pressures, will provide the basis for emptying the foreign exchange reserves.
Moalemi continued: In such a situation, if foreign exchange reserves are reduced and the possibility of currency supply is limited, the exchange rate may increase again and more inflationary pressure will be applied to the country's economy, especially the weaker sections.
Referring to the difference in the level of economic prosperity in the society, he stated: In case of an increase in the exchange rate, people who have the ability to buy and keep large amounts of dollars may benefit from this price increase, but ordinary people and low-income groups bear the most pressure due to inflation and the increase in living costs.
Warning about the link between economic pressure and negotiations with America
Imam Juma Torbat Haidarieh raised the question whether the increase of economic pressures can be the basis for imposing negotiations on the country, and stated: If the result of economic pressure is to accept the demands of America and limit the capabilities of the country, one should be cautious about such an approach.
Referring to the experience of the JCPOA and the issue of Iran's nuclear activities, he added: There should not be a situation where the people's livelihood and the country's economy become a tool to pressure officials and decision-makers so that they come to the conclusion that there is no other way but to accept America's demands.
Criticism of some economic and media approaches
Moalemi also criticized the views of some political and economic currents that rely on western models and said: There are specialists, university professors and caring experts in the country who offer solutions to economic issues and their expert views should be used.
Referring to some comments in the national media about the necessity of giving points to the United States, he called for more attention to the views of critics and economic experts and added: Officials should distinguish between expert solutions to solve people's problems and proposals that may lead to retreating from foreign pressures.
Imam Juma Torbat Haidarieh emphasized the need to pay attention to people's livelihood problems and noted that addressing economic issues and reducing the pressure on households should be a priority, and officials should also make decisions to solve the country's problems by listening to the views of committed experts.
