Tired of covering Taylor Swift?
Taylor Swift has certainly become an "anti-hero" to football fans, and the NFL's all-time leading rusher doesn't know why.
Ever since Swift met Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, she attended his games and in turn was featured on broadcasts, infuriating fans. Emmett Smith doesn't think his presence at stadiums or shows is controversial.
"Why is this controversial? She's here to support her husband and she doesn't care about all the other stuff, but the networks don't care. The networks are exposing everything because of her character. She's not looking for a damn camera!" Smith told Variety in a recent interview.

The Pro Football Hall of Famer said Swift doesn't scream for attention. She is just trying to be a supportive wife.
She tries to be Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce's wife, and tries to enjoy life. He's not going, 'Put me in front of the camera! Most stars aren't even like that. The media needs something to talk about, it's fresh and new and he's a big star,'" Smith said.
The Dallas Cowboys legend said that while he may not like how Swift's appearance is considered controversial, neither of them can stop it unless he stops attending games.
"He's just trying to be himself. That's what it really means to lose your anonymity — people follow you," Smith said.

With her unprecedented popularity, Swift has drawn more viewers to the sport, and the NFL is trying to replicate that success with the wives and girlfriends of other star players.
During training camp, the NFL coordinated social media efforts to feature stars like Justin Herbert, Joe Barrow and Jackson Dart with their girlfriends or, in Herbert's case, his fiance. Smith is not a fan of the effort.
"It shouldn't be a policy. It's a poor policy. The reason why it's a poor policy is this: Girlfriends change. Wives change sometimes, but they don't change as much as girlfriends. And if you're going to do it for three, you have to do it for everyone — not just a few — and that's where Smithy comes into play."

The Rawls Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills played a thrilling game on "Monday Night Football," and the ESPN broadcast featured Josh Allen's wife, Hailee Steinfeld, and Matthew Stafford's wife, Kelly Stafford, after some of the game's biggest plays late in the game.
Swift and other players' wives and girlfriends have helped popularize the sport, and broadcasts are unlikely to stop them from showing up, regardless of whether some fans think the sport is controversial.
