Mazandaran drinking water master plan is implemented relying on surface sources.
According to the report of Ambassador Arjan from Mazandaran, the CEO of Mazandaran Regional Water Company announced the progress of the drinking water comprehensive plan of this province, focusing on the transition from underground water to surface water sources and said: due to the reduction of underground water table reserves, part of which is caused by the development of agriculture in Mazandaran, the Ministry of Energy's policy was to direct the supply of drinking water to the people of the province towards surface water sources and dams.
Referring to the use of existing dams such as Ayatollah Salehi Mazandarani Dam (Alborz) to supply water to Babol, Joibar, Kiakla and Qaimshahr and Shahid Rajaei Dam for Sari, Haider Davoudian added: The master plan for drinking water in Mazandaran includes 9 water supply complexes in the east and west of the province, some stages of which have been put into operation or are being implemented, and the necessary follow-up to receive executive orders and Article 23 for the remaining complexes such as Amol, Noor, Mahmoudabad, Behshahr, Neka and Miandorud are fast following.
Referring to the challenges of supplying water from rivers in the hot seasons, Mazandaran Regional Water CEO said: while some rivers in the province, such as Chalus and Tenkaben, have a suitable base flow, in many rivers, including the entrances of the Alborz Dam, we face a sharp decrease or zero water in the summer; Therefore, the construction of dams and water regulation reservoirs is necessary for the stability of the drinking water network.
