HBO has ordered two seasons of the original animated comedy Merrick & Treves from the creator of Archer.
The series is from Adam Reed, Casey Willis and Lucky Yates, who are co-creators and executive producers.
HBO has ordered a new half-hour animated comedy series, giving it a two-season pickup to boot.
The premium studio says it picked up Merrick & Treves from FX veterans Archer and Adult Swim's Frisky Dingo.
Merrick & Treves is an animated period series set in Queen Victoria's Provisional Royal Constabulary. The show "follows a team of unlikely heroes who travel back and forth through time to stop Jack the Ripper."
The series is from Adam Reed, Casey Willis and Lucky Yates, who are co-creators and executive producers.
"Adam, Casey and Lucky are exceptional comedic talents that we've admired for years," Amy Gravitt, HBO's executive vice president of programming and head of comedies for HBO and HBO Max, said in a statement. "We couldn't be more excited to partner with them to bring the all-original Merrick & Treves to HBO audiences."
"The three of us are thrilled to have found a home for Merrick & Treves at HBO," Reed, Willis and Yates added in a joint statement. We can't wait to work with the creative team behind many of our favorite apps. It's actually quite daunting now that we think about it. Like: HBO.
While HBO Max has plenty of adult animated shows, HBO itself has only been in the space over the years, making the two-season order Merrick & Treves unusual.
Adam Reed, Casey Willis and Lucky Yates serve as co-creators and executive producers. From TFC Productions, Joel Bigleiter will executive produce with Kelly Wu as co-producer. Reed is repped by UTA, TFC Management and Yorn Levine.
