'We talked' - Wardogs boss admits season 2 hasn't gone well

Wardogs developer Bulkhead had some strong words about Season 2's rough launch, admitting, "We're done."
Season 2 saw the introduction of XP and cash rewards for those willing to play with Team Blue in an attempt to shake off Lonestar's tarnished reputation.
Unfortunately, this idea backfired as more experienced players quickly boosted their accounts on Blue. It usually took a long time for players to unlock some of the deadliest gear, but the XP and increased liquidity allowed players to quickly have the best armor and most annoying weapons.
"We made a mistake, we messed up," said Joe Brammer, chief executive of Bulkhead. "It was an experiment - we thought we'd do it for about a week." Boosts have already been removed in a hotfix.
The cash and XP rewards made Blue Team go from being the worst team to quickly dominating every matchup and attracting the best players. The rewards were 5% extra cash and 2.5% extra XP, but it was enough to attract the game's most demanding players.
"The only comment that bothers me is people saying, 'They didn't address the main issues [with the blue team],'" Brammer continued.
"We have to just stick to our guns with it, but here we are - we tried, it didn't work, we're throwing our hands up."
Still in Early Access, Wardogs expected such problems to exist as developers experimented and found the right balance for version 1.0. The game exploded in terms of sales, and the developers have been looking to maintain its popularity ever since.
Bulkhead also had to make sure Wardogs would work on consoles, where the game would eventually land in version 1.0. The developer has previously admitted that it had to stop features of Wardogs to ensure it would run on the Xbox Series S.
Wardogs Season 2 also introduced a new rain system that affects gameplay. Players have to really bend their heads to pick up the footprints, and pilots' visibility is drastically reduced.
