Dan Levy Criticizes Shane Gillis' SNL Monologue: 'Tasteless That Something Like It Could Air Live on National Television'

Dan Levy does not hold back his views on Shane Gillis' Saturday night monologue. The Schitt's Creek star posted a reel on Instagram on Sunday night and slammed Gillis. It opens with his statement: 'Women who wear short shorts at the gym don't make them sluts. It makes men call them bitches.'

Dan Levy isn't holding back on his thoughts on Shane Gillis' "Saturday Night Live" monologue.

The Schitt's Creek star took to Instagram on Sunday night to slam Gillis. It begins with her saying, "Women wearing shorts to the gym doesn't make them whores. It makes men call them misogynists. There's a difference. By the way, I've seen more male nipples in the gym than women showing off their bodies."

Levy was responding to a segment of Gillis' monologue in which he said, "I haven't been to the club in a long time, I didn't know women were dressing like whores now. Look, I'm sorry, there's no way to describe [it]. Did you see it? I saw it. Have you seen the panties?" Gillis went on to describe them as having "that neon," "artificial bait color" where "the wrinkles roll around the cheeks and all blend together in the hole." Watch on Deadline

And don't look!" Gillis added. "You're not allowed to look. For real! Don't look, because they're filming.

Levy, who himself hosted SNL in 2021, continued: “I have no say in having something like this on live national television. "And to be perfectly honest, more men need to stand up against it because it's complacent that it's created an environment where women are being sexually assaulted and it's a 'conversation' as opposed to a 'crime'."

He continued: Men should defend more than women. This is not a women's issue, it is everyone's issue. Because the more men objectify women in the media, the more men see them as objects and treat them as objects. They're not objects, they're human beings above men, okay? And I'm sorry if this got me in trouble with the internet, but f—!”

Gillis also accidentally dropped an FF bomb in a Dr. Seuss-inspired sketch, for which he apologized.

Gillis previously hosted SNL in 2024 and 2025. It was his first appearance since he was fired in 2019 before appearing as a cast member on the late-night show, an executive decision made by NBC after his previous anti-Asian and anti-gay comments resurfaced.

I saw Gillis' monologue on Saturday Night Live. Besides showing his misogyny, it shows how ignorant and homophobic he is. That video was the second time I saw Gillis. (The first sketch was "Green Eggs and Ham," which he butchered.) He's not funny. He looks like a regular guy who steps up to an open mic without any preparation. I hope I don't come across many other videos featuring him.

Some of it was funny, some of it was too much. Bad collection

Comedy Police is in action today

You criticize someone for criticizing someone. In my opinion, explaining your disagreement with Dan Levy (no relation) would be a better use of your free speech.

Comments from many people complaining about his cancellation. I don't see it. I see a guy who wasn't funny and saved me from watching stand-up shows on the stream. Surely he was looking for this reaction.

He was never funny and was the worst comedian ever
