Paddling Always Teaches a Court Lesson, Learned From This Shot to the Nipple

The viral video of Caitlin Kerr captures the exact moment a ball strikes her nipple on the court, sending the pro player rolling in pain.

When pickleball first became popular on neighborhood tennis courts and country clubs, I thought nothing of it. I had heard of the game years ago and since it didn't come up then I mostly ignored it.

I thought there would be a few injuries and potential fights among the weekend warriors, but I didn't know what kind of situation we were in. We have pickleball competitions where paddles are used as weapons and people who shoot pickleballs.

As if that wasn't enough for people entering the arena, there's a new reason to keep your paddles up and your head on the wheel at all times during the game. A shot to the nipple. Obviously, they are not fun.

You don't have to take my word for it. Kaitlyn Kerr, a Pickleball pro and self-described "voice of pickleball," goes by Pickleball Chick on social media, sounding the alarm.

He posted a video of himself shooting himself in the chest with the warning: "Pickleball is dangerous for nipples."

A short public service announcement shows him standing in Stezman's case with his paddle at his side waiting for the ball to be played. He was not prepared for what ended up happening.

As Kerr stands there, the man serving hits the ball to his chest. He tries to avoid it and is unable to do so. He takes the ball to the nipple. A bad serve leaves him rolling on the court in pain.

Kerr is not the only one who has experienced this. Other "breast bag survivors" appeared in the comments section with their memories of being hit on the nipple on the pickleball court:

Let this be a lesson to everyone who has not been involved in one of these painful photos. This is all avoidable. Always keep those paddles high on the ground.

You don't want to think about quitting or end up with PTSD from suffering a pickle bullet sting to the nipple. No one does. And no one wants to play with someone who has too many extra rules.

Therefore, a complete ban on these photos will not work. Take some responsibility, it's up to you to protect yourself.
