Achievements of the Boycott Israel Movement Amid Gaza Genocide
The coordinator of the Global Boycott Israel Movement outlined the movement's achievements, particularly in the wake of three years of Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip.
According to Ambassador Arjan's report, quoted by Al Jazeera, the Zionist regime's genocide in the Gaza Strip not only did not reduce the flame of the struggle to boycott Israel and its supporters around the world, but also caused the scope of international efforts in this direction to be pursued even more.
The global Boycott of Israel (BDS) movement has been able to achieve concrete results at the local and international levels over many years, especially since the beginning of Israel's continuous aggression in Gaza and the intensification of Zionist settlements with the support of the army, in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
In this regard, Mahmoud Nawajea, the coordinator of the boycott movement of the Zionist regime, says that popular pressure, especially in the form of boycott campaigns, withdrawal of investments and the imposition of sanctions, has proven its ability more than ever to bring about a real change.
According to him, in the past years, the boycott movement, with the cooperation of its partners around the world, has been able to erode the big companies that support the crimes of the Zionist regime, and these companies have paid a heavy price for being involved in the crimes of the Zionist regime.
In order to prove his claim, Navajeh pointed to the recent event in the Skodar region of Turkey and the interaction of the Turkish authorities with public pressure by closing the McDonald's branch in this region.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, the coordinator of the boycott movement emphasized that this movement, in addition to putting pressure on the companies financing the genocide of the Zionist army, plays a central role in intensifying the isolation of the colonial and genocidal system of the Zionist regime and its supporting institutions, which is unprecedented throughout history.
Among these measures, we can mention the disruption of military shipments to Tel Aviv, the withdrawal of large investments from investment funds, the imposition of partial sanctions by some governments, the termination of academic relations by dozens of universities, the joining of tens of thousands of artists even in Hollywood to the cultural boycott, the expulsion of the Zionist regime from cycling competitions, the expulsion of Carrefour from four Arab markets, and many other cases.
Navajeh adds that the sanctions movement divides its goals into three categories:
High-Priority Targets: This group includes a specific set of companies that the movement wants people around the world to boycott and divest from. This category includes all Zionist banks and companies and some international companies that deeply play a role in the colonial and occupation and apartheid system of the Zionist regime.
Medium-priority goals: These are goals that, due to the difficulty of completely sanctioning them at the current stage, require exclusion from contracts, withdrawal of investments, and legal actions.
Spontaneous goals: These goals include campaigns that were not launched by the boycott movement itself, but people around the world started them spontaneously and the movement fully supported them; Because popular pressure creates real power, just like what happened to McDonald's.
Nawaja called on the free people of the world and the supporters of the Palestinian nation to intensify the pressure of mass sanctions against all the companies that support the crimes of the Zionist regime and to organize peaceful and legal movements and to press for the withdrawal of investments from the occupied territories and to promote the spontaneous goals of the boycott of the Zionist regime.
He also emphasized the necessity of intensifying the struggle with the normalization of relations in all areas and considered these measures to be an attempt to rebuild the criminal image of the Zionist regime.
The data of the Palestinian Ministry of Health show that during the 3 years of the Zionist regime's genocide in Gaza, more than 74 thousand 237 Palestinians were martyred and more than 175 thousand 267 people were injured.
