Humanity Today Suffers from Collective and Structural Amnesia / Let Us Return Through Remembrance of God
According to Rahmati: “Due to his existential structure, humans have always been intertwined with forgetting. We see an allegorical example of this in Avicenna’s ‘Risalat al-Tayr,’ where captive birds forgot their familiar homeland and their eternal origin, and came to regard captivity as the fundamental rule of life.”
God willing, Rahmati at the "Ontology of Memory and Forgetting" meeting
According to Rahmati: "Man has always been associated with forgetfulness due to his existential structure, and we see an allegorical example of this in Ibn Sina's "Essay on Al-Tair", how the captive chickens forgot their homeland and their eternal position and considered captivity as the main rule of life."
According to Ambassador Arjan's report, quoted by Ambassador Arjan, under the initiative of the Iranian Philosophers' Assembly and with the participation of the City of Philosophy of Iran, the "Ontology of Memory and Forgetting" meeting was held with the presence of Dr. Inshaullah Rahmati, the head of the Boali Sina Scientific and Cultural Foundation, and Dr. Hekmatullah Mollasalehi, a senior professor of archeology at the University of Tehran.
The beginning of human history is the beginning of forgetting existence.
At the beginning of this meeting, Dr. Hekmatullah Mullasaleh explained the place of "remembering" in intellectual and mystical traditions and stated: The poet's work and more than that, the mission of the prophets and divine saints has always been a reminder. In his profound verses, Rumi also considers man as the manifestation of unity and connection with the eternal truth in the beginning, but as he descends into the world of matter and enters the realm of multiplicity, man becomes "historicized" and forgets his originality.
He continued: the beginning of the historicization of man is the same as the beginning of the oblivion of existence. Historical man is constantly caught in the torus of time, place, daily life and earthly conflicts, while the question of existence precedes history and historicity itself.
Referring to the crisis of boredom in the modern world, this veteran professor of Tehran University clarified: Many mental crises and human depressions in modern times are rooted in the disconnection from existence. In no period has man enjoyed material prosperity and educational facilities as much as in the present era, but at the same time, in no period has he been so alienated from his "existence"; Because modern man is drowned in the gears of history and fleeting memories.
Elaborating on the concept of decline and guilt of consciousness, Mullasaleh added: The deep sense of guilt and guilt that awakens in a person's soul indicates that a person has already experienced "purity and innocence". Divine saints and great mystics also express the deepest sense of guilt, because they understand more deeply the distance between their original position and their current situation.
In another part of his speech, he discussed the etymology of the word truth in the Greek language and noted: For the ancient Greeks, knowledge meant remembering oneself and the eternal truth. The word truth (Aletheia) is also composed of the letter negation and "forgetfulness", which means overcoming forgetfulness and returning to eternal memory. In the Persian language, the lexical roots of "remember" and "learn" all refer to remembering and connecting to the inner principle.
At the end, Mullasalahi criticized the originality of intellect as a modern tool and stated: Modern man is defined by the slogan "I think, therefore I am" and all the centrality is given to "thought", but in spiritual traditions, "remembering" and eternal memory are more fundamental and beyond conceptual thought. Returning to the ontology of memory is the only way of salvation that can connect today's man once again with the eternal gem.
Humanity today has suffered "collective oblivion" and structural
In the continuation of this meeting, Dr. Insha'Allah Rahmati explained the metaphysical infrastructure of memory and forgetting and stated: Man has always been associated with forgetfulness due to his existential structure, and we see an allegorical example of it in Ibn Sina's "Essay on Al-Tair" how the captive chickens forgot their homeland and their eternal position and considered captivity the main rule of life.
He added: However, humanity today has suffered a structural "collective forgetfulness"; A situation similar to a person who has lost all his memory due to a severe injury and no longer has the metaphysical and philosophical infrastructure to restore the eternal memory. Modern philosophies and the Cartesian subject or the thrown man in Heidegger's views do not open any door to the world of the kingdom and have focused all their attention on adapting to this earthly captivity; Therefore, before any moral call, we need a "metaphysical reminder".
Head of Scientific and Cultural Foundation, Bo Ali Sina, pointed to Plato's theory of epistemology and reminded: In the eyes of Plato and Socrates, knowledge does not mean learning from scratch, but Anamnesis. As shown in the treatise "Manu", the human soul is already aware of the facts and education has only the power of midwifery to stimulate the mind for the rebirth of knowledge.
Explaining the Islamic narration and the honorable verse of Mithaq (Alest bar Rabkam), Rahmati said: In Islamic wisdom, this eternal connection is explained based on "Holy history". Contrary to the reductionist approaches, the sages consider this event as a real thing in the realm of the universe, which draws two existential tasks for humans: first, "recovering eternity" and second, "preempting eternity" and building it from within these limited worldly moments.
He also stated: The real mystic lives in the "eternal now". A person who is caught up in daily worries is a servant of scattered and scattered times, but the one who is connected with eternal zikr and remembrance, the breadth of his time extends from eternity to eternity.
In another part of his speech, this professor of philosophy pointed out the consequences of this ontology in human relations and art and added: Genuine friendships and chaste love are rooted in the recognition and covenant of spirits in the underworld. Also, in Iranian-Islamic wisdom, music is a sacred art and evokes eternal melodies and melodies.
In the end, Rahmati emphasized the need to protect metaphysics and noted: If this spiritual and metaphysical heritage survives in the society and among the young generation, the rest of our cultural achievements will also be preserved. Otherwise, our heritage will be reduced to only museum and archaeological values.
