Trump says Iran has promised him it will no longer kill its leaders
U.S. President says no one currently wants to become president of the Islamic Republic
Washington, October 15. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran forced him to promise not to kill any more of its leaders.
Their leaders are gone. This is one of the problems. Maybe I overdid it. I don't know who to deal with. Their first level leaders are gone. They chose the second level. Their second level leaders are gone. They chose the third level. Half of them are gone. They promised me that no one will promise them an Islamic president again. "Who wants to be the president of Iran?" he said at a campaign rally in Arizona.
He once again said that if Tehran has a nuclear weapon, it will use it against the western part of America. "We had to make sure Iran didn't have a nuclear weapon, because you know they've been the number one state sponsor of terrorism for years. And if they had a nuclear weapon, they'd use it within 24 hours. They're going to destroy the Middle East. Then they're going to start hitting us on the West Coast. They're going to hit Europe because they're crazy," he says.
The United States and Israel started a war against Iran on February 28. In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding that called for an immediate ceasefire on all fronts, including in Lebanon. However, the United States has resumed wide-ranging attacks on Iran, accusing it of violating existing agreements on the Strait of Hormuz, a global staging point for nearly 25 percent of oil and about 20 percent of LNG reserves.
Later, the US government actually indicated that it had stopped using military force against Iran and had taken the path of economic suffocation through tougher sanctions.
