Link Can Blow Up Rocks With Water in Newly Discovered Ocarina Glitch

Problem hunters are the most patient and dedicated soldiers in video games, because how do you discover new tricks for a pair of games that are both good enough to rent a car? Earlier this week, Ocarina of Time bug hunters noticed that if you attack a boulder and get Link to drop a bottle of water (or bugs) at the exact moment the attack animation ends, the boulder will instantly explode.
This problem has already been cataloged by Zelda Speedruns, which has a technical section on how it works. This includes rewriting damage flags and reclassifying damage sources to turn Link's slingshot or humble sword into a Swiss Army arsenal. The really neat thing is that this bug can be replicated in both Ocarina and Majora's Mask. In Majora, you can use this bug to reach the goron racetrack or access the milk farm without needing powder kegs. Link can also use this trick in his Deku Scrub form, replacing his bubble attack with a sword strike.

This glitch can also do more than blast large rocks in Link's path. Bughunters have used this trick to defeat Velovia without using the Megaton Hammer, to access Ikana's Castle without the Mirror Shield, and perhaps most importantly of all, to defeat Gannondorf without Light Arrows.
It will be interesting to see how speed runners, or even if they incorporate this trick into their running, and how much this trick changes the established speed paths. While this trick seems to work on the Virtual Console ports of Ocarina and Majora, meaning you can try it out for yourself on the Switch, it unfortunately doesn't seem to work on their 3DS reboot, and it's unlikely that it will work for the Switch 2 remake of Ocarina either.
