Below is a selection of the first reactions to Street Fighter.
It might be controversial to say this, but STREET FIGHTER (2026) is generally a better successor to Mortal Kombat (1995) than the recent MK films. One of the few expensive projects that actually nail the feeling and energy of anime in live action.
#StreetFighter is at its best when it doesn't take itself too seriously. Noah Centineo and Cody Rhodes get the memo and in doing so completely steal the movie. Some great needle drops too I didn't really know what was going on as I was in the crap game. pic.
Kitao Sakurai's #StreetFighter delivers a chaotic collection of action, anime madness, epic characters, combos and showdowns that never end. However, Sakurai's brilliance behind the camera helped create one of the most stunning and entertaining blockbusters of the year. pic.
#StreetFighter is a winner. It's a throwback to the 90s in visual nostalgia, but also in humor and selling a hot cast. Koji Ryu; Awesome Cody is really funny. Schulz also lands a lot. Roman's creepy performance as Akuma, especially the voice acting. A silly, fun and fearless good time. pic.
Street Fighter has some good elements (beautiful 2D animation and fun fight sequences) but it falls apart in the end. The actors do what they can with the (not great) dialogue, but they look amazing! Jokes happen infrequently and seem like half the movie. #StreetFighter pic.
STREET FIGHTER looks like a fascinating film, from the mid-composite elements to the saturated color palette to its flawless cast. Unfortunately, it literally loses the story time and time again, and its fight scenes feel less like a treat and more like a distraction. pic.
#StreetFighter is like Bloodsport on horse steroids with super fun and explosive action. It's also funny in a way that both pays homage to the ridiculousness of '80s action movies while poking fun at the toxic games that those same movies helped inspire. (1/2) pic.
To call #StreetFighter surprising is a huge understatement. It's a great achievement with tons of knockout shows that adapt the gonzo style of the games in a very exciting way. My one complaint is that I wanted more! Cody Rhodes, your comedic future is bright pic.
#Streetfighter is a great time for Rio at the movies. With tough fights, quick quips and charismatic characters, the spirit of the game fills every frame, making it one of the most entertaining films of the year. We had a great time to the fans: "You win great"🔥 @ParamountUK pic.
I'm a grown-ass woman and it makes me smile when I tell you I got the right goosebumps watching #StreetFighter – the way they respect the characters' fighting moves and throw in over 100 Easter eggs as a nod to those who grew up playing it and beyond. Noah Centineo was crushed in the role of Ken! pic.
#StreetFighterMovie is KICK-ASS! It leads to one of the best movies you'll see this year. Kitao Sakura represents the perfect combination of style, energy and fun. Noah Centineo and Andrew Koji pull every move, while Kalina Liang is a dreamy Chun Li. This is a street fighter… pic.
Street Fighter is really fun and I want to watch it 8 more times.
#StreetFighter brings the game to life! It honors its heritage while offering spectacular battles, great music and plenty of laughs from start to finish. Kalina Liang, Noah Centineo and Andrew Koji are all killing it! One of my favorite movies of the year! 🥊🔥 pic.
STREET FIGHTER is one for the fans. It's an adrenaline show with a stunning mix of animation and live visuals that will keep fans engaged in every fight. Kitao Sakurai works with a good cast and Kalina Liang shines as Chun-Li. #StreetFighterMovie pic.
I just came out of the #streetfighter premiere and I'm sick! The film truly captures the spirit of the games, with tons of fun references for fans. The soundtrack is superb and the 2D animation was a real highlight. Such a fun experience for Street Fighter fans.. pic.
There's a lot to love about #StreetFighter, the cast and performances (with what they have to work with) are pretty decent, the action sequences are enough to keep you engaged (not as much as something like The Furious), there's a handful of really slick animation… pic.
#StreetFighter embraces the cartoonish absurdity of its video game roots, but the humor doesn't always come through. The film really shines in its serious moments, including some great fight scenes and some really great animated flashbacks. Liang and Koji are great. pic.
As a huge Street Fighter fan, the movie was exactly what I expected from the trailers lol The 2D animation sequences were my favorite parts and the movie is really funny at times (though too much humor in the serious moments IMO)
#StreetFighter knows exactly what kind of movie it is, fully commits to it and that's exactly why it works for me! It's loud, ridiculous, stylish, and most importantly, not afraid to be fun. Cody Rhodes steals every scene he's in, and I was really happy from start to finish! pic.
#Streetfighter is a movie my son and I were very excited to see and it did not disappoint! Fun, action and a perfect tribute to the game it originated from! The animated flashback scenes were beautifully done and were a highlight for me! The cast is quite… pic.
We saw #StreetFighter at the premiere last night: totally harmless, but totally entertaining. The kind of 90s throwback movie you enjoy at a blockbuster on a Friday night on a whim and enjoy with your school friends over pizza. In some areas it tends to be smooth, some of it feels…
#Streetfightermovie is a blast. It's campy, funny, action-packed, and just plain fun. There are tons of great calls from the OG games. Noah Centineo and Andrew Koji are excellent as Ken & Ryu and understand the task. Kalina Liang as Chun Li and... pic It is breathtaking
#StreetFighter has bold and risky moves that give it the edge to be the best live-action adaptation of a fighting video game. The film doesn't quite know what direction it wants to take. As a result, those bold and risky moves hurt the film more than it helps. …pic.
