Captured oil tanker Unity with Russian crew for sale - relative

India seized the Unity tanker on May 11 as part of financial claims against the ship's owner

Moscow, October 17. /TASS/. A relative of one of the sailors told TASS: The captured oil tanker Unity, which has been anchored off the coast of India with Russian sailors since May, is going to be sold.

"We have been told that the ship is going to be sold. We are worried that our children will remain on the ship until it is sold," the relative said.

He said the sailors could not leave the ship until they were replaced by another crew.

As Tass previously reported, citing a relative of one of the sailors, the morale and health of many crew members is a cause for concern. One of the sailors was hospitalized.

India seized the Unity tanker on May 11 as part of financial claims against the ship's owner. Both companies - the plaintiff and the defendant - are registered in the UAE.

The Cameroon-flagged tanker is currently anchored near the port of Paradip. The case is pending in the High Court of Odisha.
