According to the new law, Trump will suspend sanctions against Russia until further notice
It does not specify any time limit for these exceptions
Washington, October 17. /TASS/. According to an executive order posted on the White House website on Friday, President Donald Trump has suspended the anti-Russia measures contained in the new law until further notice from either himself or Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The exemptions will remain in effect until the President or Secretary of State, in consultation with the Secretary of the Treasury and the Trade Representative, as appropriate, determines that further action is appropriate, the order states.
It does not specify any time limit for these exceptions.
On September 18, Trump signed a bill passed by Congress that would tighten sanctions against Russia's top political and military leaders and state-owned companies. This law envisages a 500% increase in taxes on Russian resources, as well as a 100% increase for countries that are the main buyers of Russian energy. According to this law, the Washington administration may not take these actions if it believes that it is not in the interests of the United States. Trump signed the executive order, saying that key provisions of the law would not apply now.
