Amulya Vishwanath, who spent seven years in product marketing for NVIDIA's robotics platforms, says robotics is currently in its "Lego era," with major building blocks such as actuators, robotic hands, software and safety standards still being rebuilt.

This view contrasts with those who believe that robotics, with a generic base model, is on the verge of its "ChatGPT moment" - the day the chatbot with shocking capabilities launches in late 2022. (General Intuition CEO Pim DeWitt told Equity earlier this year that a single generic base model makes many of today's bots special).

In this episode of the TechCrunch Stocks Podcast, Dominique-Madhuri Davis spoke with Vishwanath to talk about where he writes his first checks as founder and managing partner of Techable VC. They also talked about what she learned as one of the first female executives to leave Nvidia to start her own early-stage company investing in physical AI in robotics, materials science and life sciences.
