A newly released series of calls after the botched execution of death row inmate Krista Pike shows emergency services were delayed because first responders were confused about whether the calls were real or a "prank."

"We're trying to figure out if this is a real thing that's going on and we need to send an ambulance or if you need police assistance or if this is someone who's basically playing a prank or like, running us over," one dispatcher can be heard saying during the call.

Another recording shows Kelly Gleason, Krista Pike's defense attorney, pleading for help.

"He is still alive and breathing and needs immediate care," she says.
