The last time ABC carried the Super Bowl was in February 2006, when hot drama Grey's Anatomy delivered one of the most talked-about original shows in Big Game history, Part 1 of a bombshell-themed two-part arc that drew 38.1 million viewers.

Twenty years later, ABC picks up where it left off, launching its early-stage, high-potential flagship series immediately following Super Bowl LXI on ABC and Disney+ on Sunday, February 14, 2027. Like Grey's Anatomy, I hear High Potential is planning a Bowl-Parting special in the first episode. A cliffhanger that will be resolved when episode 2 airs in the show's regular time slot next Tuesday. ABC News tells a judge that the FCC showed a "retaliatory motive" by ordering an initial review of the license despite "less intrusive" options for actors Catherine Lagaia and Deacon Philip to direct the Disney+ pilot "Spaceship Earth."

The upcoming Season 3 of High Potential will not air until after the Super Bowl. The series starring Caitlin Olson is expected to return sooner, possibly in January. (For the first time in its run, High Potential is not on the fall schedule this season.) Watch at Deadline

Olson announced the special post-Super Bowl episode Monday night in a commercial that aired online and on air on Monday Night Football.

Super Bowl LXI will air on ABC, ESPN and Disney+, which explains why High Potential is on Disney+. For the first time outside of the home bundle, it's streaming on Disney's partner platform, Hulu, for both the next-day episodes and previous seasons.

In 2000, ABC also aired episode 1 of a two-part series of a popular drama series, The Practice, after the Super Bowl.

High Potential finished the 2025/2026 broadcast season as the No. 1 show in adults 18-49 (3.35 rating) and the No. 3 show in total viewers (16.01 million) over 35 viewing days on ABC, Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ and digital platforms.

The series follows a single mother with an exceptional mind (Olson) whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a seasoned detective.

High Potential stars Olson as Morgan, Danielle Sonjata as Karadek, Javisia Leslie as Daphne, Denise Akdeniz as Lou Ozdale, Amira Jay as Ava, Matthew Lamb as Elliot, and Judy Rhys as Selena. Twentieth Television produces the series, which is based on the French format Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI), and was created in the US by Drew Goddard.

Goddard and Sarah Esberg of Goddard Textiles, Nora and Lila Zuckerman and new showrunners Olson serve as executive producers. Andrea Massaro (Goddard Textiles) is one of the executive producers.
