Tayyebi: Federation's Strict Measures at Training Camps Benefit Athletes

A member of Iran's national athletics team at the 20th Asian Games said that the federation's strict measures at training camps have benefited athletes.

According to Mehr reporter, Mohammad Reza Tayibi, the gold medalist in the weight throw at the Nagoya Asian Games, said at the press conference of the Athletics Federation, referring to the beginning of his sports career in 2013: "I experienced many bitter and sweet events on the way to becoming a champion." I would like to say that this path was easy, but championship sports are always accompanied by many difficulties, dilemmas and sufferings. We tried for many years and since 2017, my records had reached a level where I could compete with strong athletes in this field in Asian competitions, but every time for some reason, this opportunity was lost. Once the spread of Corona prevented me, another time I could not participate in the competitions due to knee injury, and when I was ready for the Asian indoor competitions in Tehran, a cold prevented me from attending. Many times I hit the closed door and could not reach my goal.

Referring to the holding of concentrated camps in the past two years, he added: I worked with Amir Alvand in these camps and our cooperation continued until this year. Even though my records were getting better, I felt there was a void in my life and I was looking for another career besides sports. I applied for employment in the fire department and prepared books related to this field. I said to myself that it is better to have a job besides sports; Especially since I was slowly approaching my fourth decade of life. After two hard training sessions during the day and at night from 9 to 12, I studied with a small lamp that I had prepared so that I could pass the firefighter recruitment exam. Despite these efforts, I was not accepted in that exam. I tried to find a job in other groups, including Iran Khodro, but I did not succeed there either.

Tayyibi continued: The rules that prevailed in the army may have seemed annoying to me in the first days, but today I believe that being in the army with such rules can be a blessing. Listening to the experiences of veterans and using their advice plays an important role in the development of athletes.

He added: In the first days, these restrictions were difficult for us. Sometimes we had bank work or needed to make an important call, but it was not possible to use the phone freely. However, I gradually realized that the purpose of these rules is to help athletes and provide better conditions to focus on training.

Tayyibi continued: I believe that an athlete should focus on his professional path and not allow his activities in cyber space to distract him from his training and goals. I myself had decided not to install my Instagram until the end of the Asian Games and return to it after the end of the tournament. This experience showed me that managing the use of virtual space is very important for the athlete.

Referring to the results of the team in the Asian Games, Tayibi said: I expected to win more medals, but some events did not go as expected. However, not all these results can be attributed to lack of work and the conditions and events of the matches should also be considered. What is important is that today's results show that the athletes have improved and should continue on this path.
