Iran's sharp reaction to Saudi accusations about Yemen

Tonight, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected any claims about Iran's role in Yemeni operations and said that solving the Yemeni issue requires respecting the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of this country and stopping any interference in its internal affairs and ending the air and sea blockade of Yemen.

According to ambassador Arjan; Tonight (Friday), 24 October, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baqaei, while explaining the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen, emphasized Iran's principled position on the necessity of dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Yemen to solve issues through diplomacy.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: The Islamic Republic of Iran is always ready to use its best efforts to help end the conflicts and is still ready to use all its capacities for this purpose if requested by the parties.

Referring to the history of the conflicts between Saudi Arabia and Yemen, Baqa'i noted: The developments of the last 12 years have shown that foreign intervention, military approach and blockade are not the solution to Yemen's problem. The people of Yemen have endured the sea and air blockade of this country for more than a decade and with exemplary patience have endured the consequences of this cruel blockade, which was designed by actors outside the region, especially the United Kingdom and the United States, but it is expected that the countries of the region and the Islamic world will do their best to end this situation.

Regarding the claim made by an official of the Saudi Foreign Ministry regarding Iran's role in persuading the Yemenis to attack Saudi Arabia, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: The Islamic Republic of Iran rejects any claim regarding Iran's role in Yemeni operations and emphasizes that solving the Yemeni issue requires respecting the country's national sovereignty and territorial integrity and stopping any interference in the country's internal affairs, and most importantly ending the air and sea blockade of the country.

Baqaei clarified: Yemeni armed forces act based on their own interests and assessments, and such claims are not believable for people who are familiar with the relations between Iran and its friends. However, Iran does not consider the escalation of tensions to the benefit of any party.
