Masoud Farasati: Don't Let People See This Trash! / Video
Watch 'Some Like It Hot', 'The Apartment' and 'One, Two, Three', and pay attention to the refined screenwriting, comic situation construction and sharp dialogue.
Screenline's Instagram page published an old video of Masoud Frosti's advice to people and wrote: Respect your own intelligence and taste and stop watching these garbage comedies. Comedy cinema has a rich history of ingenuity, courage and creativity. It's a shame that many of today's audiences share this history with a few cheesy actors, second-hand sex jokes, and scripts that seem to have been written with confidence in the audience's stupidity. Go see the cinema of Billy Wilder.
Watch the films "Some Like It Hot", "The Apartment" and "One, Two, Three" and notice the subtlety of the screenwriting, the architecture of the comic situations and the cleverness of the dialogues.
The films "The General" and "Sherlock Jr." Watch Buster Keaton to see what the relationship between fantasy, mise-en-scène and comedy was a century ago.
See "The Nutty Professor" and "The Bellboy" by Jerry Lewis; "PlayTime" and "Mon Oncle" by Jacques Tati.
Don't miss watching "Duck Soup" by the Marx Brothers and "To Be or Not to Be" by Ernst Lubitsch.
These works are a part of the heritage that is essential for every serious lover of comedy cinema.
After watching these movies, go back to what they sell today in theaters as comedy and see what a humiliating gap there is between mastering the language of cinema and abusing the most basic instincts of the audience. Of course, vulgarity knows its own customer.
As long as a crowd is willing to buy tickets for any worthless production and giggle at a few silly jokes, there will be no need to upgrade the quality.
The audience is also responsible for the continuation of this cultural disaster. You can't pay for vulgarity for years and then complain about the quality of cinema.
