Patrick Witt, Head of the White House Crypto Council, Resigns
Witt's departure creates a leadership gap on the White House crypto council and marks the fourth prominent exit from the advisory group.
Waite's departure creates a leadership gap in the White House Cryptocurrency Council and marks the fourth high-profile departure from the advisory group.
Patrick Witt, executive director of the White House Cryptocurrency Council, is leaving his current role for a new opportunity in the private sector.
"Serving in this administration has been the privilege of a lifetime," Witt wrote in a Thursday X post.
As the lead White House advisor on the Digital Asset Market Transparency Act, Witt was creating the first comprehensive US regulatory framework for the crypto market. The US Senate failed to pass a final version of the legislation in September, and further progress is unlikely this session.
He was the last staffer left on the White House council following the departure of White House cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence kingpin David Sachs and the departure of deputy director Harry Jung in March.
The council's former chief executive, Bo Hines, announced his departure in August 2025. Weeks later, Hines took on a role as a strategic advisor at stablecoin publisher CoinDesk to coordinate the company's expansion in the United States.
Cointelegraph has reached out to the White House for comment on Waite's departure and whether they have a potential replacement to fill his role, and will update if available.
