The publishing company Atari and the developer studio Sad Cat officially announced that the action adventure and cyberpunk title Replaced will be released on December 8 for the Android operating system.
The development of this port is in charge of the Polish studio The Knights of U, and the game will be available as part of the Google Play Games program; A structure that allows players to experience the game on mobile, tablet and personal computers with just one purchase.
Although extensive details of the port's technical specifications have not yet been revealed, this version will most likely feature redesigned touch controls that will make gameplay easier on smartphone and tablet touchscreens. Along with these things, it will not be surprising if the Android port of the game Replaced fully supports controllers and gamepads so that players on the mobile platform can have a more accurate and console-like control experience.
Replaced was released earlier this year for PC and Xbox Series X/S consoles and received positive reviews from critics; So that its average score on the Metacritic website is 76. In their reviews, critics praised its stunning pixel art visual style, smooth animations, eye-catching lighting, rich world-building, and engaging combat system; However, some flaws such as the inconsistency of the movements in the 2.5D platform of the game and the slow beat of the narration of the story were mentioned among its negative points.
Earlier in August 2025, Igor Gritsay, one of the founders of Sad Cat Studios, shared some interesting details about why he adopted a 2.5D visual style that combines 3D models and pixel art. He explained that the development team wanted to create something very visually appealing, but didn't have the budget to develop a top-notch AAA game:
You don't see many games like Inside or Little Nightmares in the industry, and these titles are very rare; It's not without reason, because even if the game is completely 3D, it's very difficult to arrange everything in a cinematic way without any flaws. However, we practically shot ourselves in the foot with pixel art! Because the correct direction of the camera in such a way that the illusion of two-dimensionality of the sprites is not lost, required a lot of work and effort.
Gritsay jokingly noted that their team initially thought that choosing a 2.5D art style would make things easier, but ended up laughing and said I should spoil it, which wasn't the case at all.
In Replaced, players control an artificial intelligence named R.E.A.C.H. assume that he is trapped inside the body of a human and must explore the dark and anti-utopian world of the game and uncover complex secrets and conspiracies. In the meantime, violent and dangerous encounters occur that challenge the player's skills in hand-to-hand and long-range battles. The game world is a ruined society with a terrible class gap; where a whole class of people are called castaways; Humans who were victims of predatory mega-corporations, their organs were stolen and their survivors were driven out of the city limits.
