Lorestan Seed Production Organized Through Expansion of Variety Demonstration Farms

Khorramabad – The Deputy for Crop Production Improvement of the Lorestan Jihad-e Agriculture Organization announced the organization of seed production in Lorestan through the expansion of variety demonstration farms.

According to Mehr reporter, the seed technical committee meeting of Lorestan province was held at noon on Thursday with the presence of the vice president of plant production improvement of the province's agricultural jihad organization, managers and experts of specialized fields, representatives of the research department and managers of seed producing companies.

In this meeting, the solutions for the development of demonstration farms of cultivars, the selection of seeds according to the climatic conditions of different regions of the province, and the review of the requests of companies active in the field of seed production were discussed.

Development of cultivar demonstration farms in the new crop year

One of the main focus of this meeting was the development of PVS farms or variety demonstration farms; Farms that provide the possibility of evaluating and comparing different plant cultivars in real cultivation conditions and can play an effective role in identifying cultivars compatible with the climatic and agricultural conditions of different regions.

Based on the decisions made in this meeting, all the seed producing companies of the province were required to take action to establish these farms in the new crop year.

It was also decided that cultivars that can be cultivated in these farms will be determined by the research center after expert review and communicated to the relevant companies so that cultivars can be selected based on specialized evaluations and appropriate to the conditions of different regions of the province.

Examining requests to receive digital rights

In another part of the meeting of Lorestan Seed Technical Committee, the request of seed producing companies to receive royalty or royalties of cultivars was discussed.

In these investigations, the capabilities of the companies, the capacity and potential of seed production and the climatic conditions of different regions of the province were taken into consideration as evaluation criteria so that the requests are reviewed considering the existing capacities and production needs of the province.

Examining the requests for licensing the activity of seed producing companies was also one of the other issues raised in this meeting.

In this section, the demands presented were evaluated with the aim of organizing the activities of the companies and increasing the seed production capacity of the province. This action is aimed at strengthening the structure of seed production and better use of the capacity of companies active in this field.

Emphasis on the coordination of the research and implementation department

In this meeting, the vice president of plant production improvement of the Lorestan Agricultural Jihad Organization emphasized the need for coordination between the research department and executive groups.

Babaei considered agriculture management as a communication link between research centers and seed producing companies and evaluated the role of this department in advancing programs and following up on the implementation of technical seed committee approvals.

Based on the discussions raised in this meeting, the development of demonstration farms of cultivars, determination of cultivars suited to climatic conditions, review of royalty requests and organization of production companies will be among the main axes of follow-up in the field of seed production in Lorestan province.
