Moscow, October 12. /TASS/. Crews of warships of Russia's Northern Fleet have been practicing what to do if the Arctic port is suddenly seized during the final stage of their deployment in Taimyr, the fleet's press service reported.
"At the final stage of its deployment in Taimyr, a detachment of warships of the Northern Fleet conducted an operation to resolve a critical situation in the Arctic under the tactical exercise scenario. In the exercise scenario, the enemy captured the port of Dudinka. The sailors practiced the landing of a naval assault force and liberated armed groups from the seaport."
The press service reported that a Ka-29-based helicopter took off from the patrol ship Ivan Papanin, which led the group, and delivered an assault group of marines to the designated area. The marines liberated the port administration building. During the exercise, the forces of the Northern Fleet practiced clearing the port area - occupied by a simulated enemy reconnaissance and sabotage group - using drones.
As the large landing craft Kondopoga approached the shoreline of the Yenisei River, two DT-10PN Vityaz all-terrain vehicles with marines and engineers from the Northern Fleet's separate naval engineering regiment disembarked from the twin decks. In addition, the forces of the unit, which was responsible for countering the enemy's underwater sabotage forces, carried out an operation to prevent the passage of enemy vessels through and eliminate patrols along the coast.
After disembarking, Marine Brigade units and Navy Engineers marched on three Vitaz all-terrain vehicles and cleared access routes to the port to conduct a mission to liberate a critical facility. Currently, a detachment of warships from the Northern Fleet continues to conduct long-range deployment missions in the Arctic, the fleet reported.
