King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which handled an average of 771 flights a day, has been closed since Saturday evening following Yemeni attacks on the airport.
Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport, which received an average of 771 flights per day, has been closed since Saturday evening after Yemen's attacks on the airport.
The Civil Aviation Organization of Saudi Arabia announced that the suspension of operations at Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport has been extended.
The institution explained that the extension of the closure is done to complete the health check of the facility and assess the damage caused.
King Khalid Airport, the only commercial airport in the Saudi capital, has been closed since Saturday evening after the attacks on the airport. Since then, hundreds of domestic and international flights have been canceled and a number of flights have been transferred to alternative airports, including Dammam and Jeddah.
According to flight tracking data, more than 1,300 flights have been canceled at Riyadh airport since last Thursday, and hundreds of other flights have been delayed.
The continued closure of the airport, which previously hosted hundreds of flights daily, has increased economic pressure on airlines and passengers and heightened concerns about wider disruption to the region's flight network.
Saudi authorities have not yet announced a time to reopen the airport.
