Gilan Art House: Ayatollah Ghorbani Devoted His Life to Promoting Islamic Teachings

Rasht – The Gilan Province Art House, in a message on the passing of Ayatollah Zain al-Abedin Ghorbani Lahiji, stated: Ayatollah Ghorbani devoted his life to promoting Islamic teachings.

Rasht- Gilan province's art district issued a message on the occasion of the death of Ayatollah Zainul Abdin Ghorbani Lahiji and said: Ayatollah Ghorbani devoted his life to the promotion of Islamic knowledge.

According to the report of Ambassador Arjan of Gilan Province Art District, issuing a message on the occasion of the death of Ayatollah Zainul Abdin Ghorbani Lahiji, he considered this prominent scholar as one of the influential figures in the field of religion, science and culture of the province, who during his lifetime left lasting services to his memory by authoring valuable works, promoting Islamic knowledge, and introducing the greats of Gilan.

The death of Jalil al-Qadr scholar and prominent religious, scientific and cultural figure of Gilan province, Hazrat Ayatollah Zainul Abdin Ghorbani Lahiji, was a cause of sadness. In the era before the victory of the Islamic Revolution, he was one of the pioneers in explaining Islamic thought as the author of valuable religious and intellectual books and codified important works such as "Towards the Eternal World".

In the guise of an interpreter of the Qur'an and Nahj al-Balagha, he presented a valuable collection of twelve volumes, "Comprehensive Commentary on the Verses of Commandments", and faced with the requirements of the times, he had an active approach to emerging phenomena and mapped "the role of cinema in life and new civilization".

He challenged the western civilization and modernity long before their flaws became apparent in his writings such as "The Greatest Disease of Our Century" and explained "the causes of the progress and backwardness of Muslims" with a critical eye. Also, in the editorial board of magazines such as "School of Islam" and collections such as "Dar Rah Haq", he collaborated academically with the great scientists of the time, including Professor Shahid Motahari, Shahid Bahnar, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, etc., and in "Nesl Jawan Publications" he had a wide intellectual conversation with teenagers and young people of that era.

He was one of the fighters who tasted imprisonment both during the leadership of Ayatollah Boroujerdi and during the movement of Hazrat Ruhollah in 1342. After the victory of the Islamic revolution, he also held various responsibilities in strongholds such as the Sharia Ruler of Lahijan and Astana Ashrafieh, the representative of the people of Astana Ashrafieh in the Majlis, the Imamate of Juma Lahijan, the representative of the religious leader in Gilan province, the Imamate of Juma Rasht and the membership of the Assembly of Leadership Experts, and he left Amirul Momineen (AS) Seminary of Rasht as a cultural service.

Efforts to introduce and protect the scientific, cultural and artistic geniuses of Gilan and to remove centuries of alienation from their faces, including by commemorating sages such as Abdul Razzaq Fayaz Lahiji, Mohammad Ali Hazin Lahiji and Selar Dilmi, paying attention to recording and publishing the scientific heritage of the elders of this land and determination to recognize its religious identity, are among the valuable efforts of the deceased.

His scientific and effective activities to protect the Islamic Iranian identity of this region are reminiscent of the efforts of wise scholars such as Ayatollah Yusuf Najafi Jilani and Ayatollah Mohammad Mahdavi Lahijani in contemporary history.

He also laid the groundwork for the important meetings of the elites and people of the province with the leader of the martyr of the revolution, with the focus of the nobles of this land, from Hazin Lahiji to Mirza Kochuch Jangli, as well as the important meeting of the 8th anniversary of the epic of January 2008, which led to the recording of important statements of His Holiness about this land.

While honoring the late Saeed, the Art District of Gilan Province offers its condolences to the Beit Makram, students, devotees and honorable people of Gilan Province, and prays for God's mercy and forgiveness for the deceased.
