Binance.US Seeks $1 Billion Valuation in Potential $100 Million Funding Round: Report

According to reports, the crypto exchange sought to use surplus funds to regain market share after settling with U.S. authorities in 2023.

The cryptocurrency exchange was reportedly seeking to use additional funds to regain market share following Binance's settlement with US authorities in 2023.

Binance.US is reportedly looking to raise $100 million in an investment round that could value the cryptocurrency exchange at $1 billion.

The US-based cryptocurrency exchange is pursuing private investment as it seeks to expand its business, Bloomberg reported Thursday. The potential $1 billion valuation is far less than the $4.5 billion pre-money valuation it secured in 2022, when it raised $200 million in seed funding.

Binance.US has reportedly notified World Liberty Financial, the crypto platform founded by US President Donald Trump and his sons, about the funding round, but the company will not participate. Last year, Binance was involved in a controversial $2 billion investment between a United Arab Emirates royalty-related entity and World Liberty using the platform's USD1 stablecoin.

The proposed funding round is reportedly part of Binance.US' efforts to regain market share against larger rivals following a 2023 deal between Binance Holdings Ltd. and US authorities. As part of the settlement, Binance Holdings agreed to pay a $4.3 billion fine and accept additional supervision and monitoring, while then-CEO Chang Peng Zhao pleaded guilty to criminal charges. Zhao spent four months in prison before receiving Trump's pardon in 2025.
